& Nobel，它们都开始利用美国在线进行书籍的销售。凯斯从来不会放弃每一个机会。当时的美国在线有着网络世界里最庞大的聊天社区。每天有14000个聊天室在运行，每个聊天室平均有23人。1997年3月，美国在线又将它的14000个聊天室向广告商开放。紧接着，美国在线收购了Netscape 美国在线（AOL），陨落的巨头 - 知乎切换模式写文章登录/注册美国在线（AOL），陨落的巨头5mountain互联网 旁观者说到瀛海威，就不得不提到一家公司，美国在线（AOL）。美国在线（AOL），听名字就十分霸气，像中国邮政、中国电信、中国移动一样。瀛海威——曾经的中国“AOL”，完全复制了AOL的模式。美国在线（AOL）——美国的瀛海威？ 开什么玩笑！AOL是彼时代表美国“新经济”的最著名的网络公司，称得上是全世界互联网公司的鼻祖，是世界上规模最大、身价最高、经营最成功的互联网企业。AOL到2010年其股票市值一度高达1640亿美元，相当于电脑巨人IBM的两倍，比百年老店通用汽车和波音的总和还大。如今我们已经见不到美国在线（AOL）了。2015年，AOL被Verizon以44亿美元收购并退市。而Verizon在2016年接着收购了雅虎（收购后雅虎更名为Altaba，被戏称“阿里他爸”）壹AOL成立于20世纪80年代初，原名叫做Control Video Corporation，是个为电子游戏主机配套的小公司。到1985年改名昆腾（Quantum）计算机公司，主营业务变为提供拨号上网。1989年10月改名为响亮的“美国在线”（America Online），简称AOL。90年代初，互联网开始普及，AOL的业务一飞冲天，成为美国最大的上网服务提供商，用户迅速就突破了1000万人。对于许多人来说，AOL就是互联网，要是没有AOL的软件，他们都不知道该怎么玩网上游戏、聊天和收发电子邮件。因为要求加入的人太多，以至于有段时间，客户热线很难打通，新闻界戏称AOL就是“Always Off-Line”（永远忙音）。作为市场的领跑者，1996年，AOL率先推出了19.99美元的上网包月服务，改变了按照小时收费的惯例，开启了“永远在线”的网络时代。1999年，AOL的财政年度收入为48亿美元，利润为7.62亿美元 ，拥有雇员12100人，是世界最大的网络服务公司，当然也是世界最著名的电子商务平台，在美国市场独占鳌头。2000年１月10日，AOL和时代华纳公司宣布合并，组建“美国在线——时代华纳公司”，而新公司的价值在合并后更是高达3500亿美元，被称为“世纪合并”，“史上最伟大的创举”。 呵呵，老美吹起牛来也是毫不含糊，炒起概念吹起泡沫也是天下无敌的。 贰 互联网这块新鲜出炉的大蛋糕，真是惹人馋啊！1995年3月，雅虎（Yahoo!）成立，推出了搜索功能、门户网站功能、邮箱功能等，采取免费模式以广告作为流量的变现渠道（免费模式对互联网的发展影响巨大）。被称为中国“互联网教父”的张朝阳创办中国第一家门户网站搜狐就是拷贝了雅虎，连搜狐的发音都要紧跟着雅虎。1995年8月，微软推出MSN（Microsoft Network，微软网络）网络在线服务，成为AOL直接的竞争对手。1996年3月25日 美国使用MSN拨号接入网络的用户突破100万。1997年12月31日 微软购买了电子邮件服务公司Hotmail，连同Hotmail的800万用户，整合到MSN网站。MSN接着整合了提供“一次登录到多个网站”功能的Passport服务。1998年6月，微软发布Windows98系统，集成了IE4.0浏览器（免费），不久便彻底取代了AOL的网景浏览器。1999年7月22日 MSN引入MSN Messenger服务，开通6天即达到70万用户。微软这种巨头，对互联网反应极快，下手极狠，通过免费模式，互联网业务也是飞速发展，在几乎垄断电脑操作系统的情况下，IE、MSN、Hotmail、MSN Messenger都是随系统免费赠送，但还是未能成为笑到最后的那个，其中原因也是值得探讨的。不过微软依靠10年前就布局的云计算，到2019年一度重返世界市值第一的宝座。1998年，Google创立，主推搜索业务。97年时拉里佩奇曾有意将谷歌卖给雅虎，但当年风头无两的雅虎却不感兴趣，拉里·佩奇和谢尔盖·布林便创建了Google。到2002 年，雅虎出价 30 亿美元收购Google被拒绝了。2004年底Google开始超越雅虎，并逐步成为互联网巨头，而雅虎不断的从一个低点走向另一个低点。就这样，美国在线的几项主要业务逐渐被竞争对手蚕食。如电子邮件已被谷歌和微软等公司免费提供；在浏览器市场，网景已被微软彻底取代；在即时通讯领域，被微软MSN Messenger抢夺了市场。新的网络接入服务企业所提供的低价在线服务，只有美国在线服务费的一半左右，对美国在线的核心业务——拨号上网造成了严重影响。更为致命的是，美国在线没能适时抓住机会发展宽带技术，本想收购的美国电报电话宽带网被别人抢了头筹，自身推出的DSL高速上网服务比别人慢了半拍，技术和名气也没有过人之处。如此一来，美国在线的部分老用户被宽带网吸引走，部分新用户又被竞争对手抢去。美国在线的业务在短时间内极速萎缩。2002年，出现了542.2亿美元的大幅亏损，创下了美国历史上季度亏损的最高纪录。2003年，亏损额更高达987亿美元，市值蒸发近1000亿美元。时代华纳和美国在线的股东们互相指责对方欺骗，而管理人员也互不见面，这导致了美国在线的转型失误，乃至最后被分拆的命运。到2009年12月，时代华纳公司正式剥离美国在线，AOL市值不到30亿美元。到2015年，AOL被Verizon以44亿美元收购退市，永远的离开了我们的视线。 叁科技的残酷就是没有壁垒，最强护城河就是不断创新的能力。AOL、Yahoo这些巨头，看似无比强大，却迅速被击败、衰落。即使像微软这种垄断者，用户基础无以庞大、坚固，但最终还是败给了Facebook、Google等互联网新兵。在大洋彼岸的中国，几乎对互联网一无所知的年轻人，拷贝了美国老师们的模式，开始了互联网的征程，一开始便直面美国老师的竞争。但，中国互联网的新人们，在国内市场上迅速的击败了这些曾经顶礼膜拜的巨头，并通过不断的创新，创造出与美国巨头完全不一样的互联网模式和生态。编辑于 2019-05-09 15:51互联网互联网企业​赞同 20​​2 条评论​分享​喜欢​收藏​申请
